Am I a genius? Am I considered an expert by my peers? Of course not. I am a Sr. Software Developer from Washington D.C. I’m just as smart (or dumb) as the next guy. The people I sit next to on the train ride to work have the same abilities to rationalize and think through a subject as I. However I wonder how often we actually our mental abilities to their capacity.
From the time we are children to when we are adults we are taught exactly what we are expected to think and believe. Even those among us who claim to be “free thinkers” are more often than not, simply regurgitating the same catch phrases and speeches of others who hold to the same philosophical world view. We live in the age of the Internet. We have enormous oceans of resources instantly available to us and yet we choose to build our personal philosophy and world view from shallow “news” programs, which entertain more than inform,
We are truly “walking in puddles.”
