Good point Tom but where do we learn about "the grace of God through Jesus Christ?" Oh that's right the Bible which is 'flawed' right?

Of course the Bible is flawed. It is compiled by man. Even those who heard the word of God directly were like 3 year olds listening to adults. The critical question is are you saved because you follow the law or by the grace of God through Jesus Christ?

You are incorrect in your assumptions. I read it and found it to be political crap. It is incumbent upon you to prove its worth since you assert same. My comments were directed to the way you specifically redefined and revised history and expectations so that, voila, you and your guys are the 'good guys.'

Iraq was no threat. It had no WMD's, and no way to deliver them if they did. If they simply, insanely wanted to do us harm, they could have blown up a ship in our ports filled with conventional explosives. Your thinking is stuck in the Reagan box. Democrats are stuck in the McGovern box. Meanwhile, decades have gone by in which to gather empirical information, scientific advances, and time too, to study history. You have your apocalypse, the Dem's have their's and I think you're all whack. I

have always thought of Liberals as egotistical, spendthrift 'do gooders.' Sound like an administration you know? One that cannot deal openly and honestly with its own citizens, unable to admit error, unable to manage the public funds entrusted to them, trying to change the world in its latest crazy iteration. You, are the Liberal. Put that in your pipe...

I agree that these awful acts (if true) should be addressed. If it is proven that these soldiers have committed these acts (like rape) they should spend the rest of thier lives behind bars for they have disgraced themselves, the US Military, and the USA.

Name calling? Ok, I don't know if you are a liberal, but you were repeating a line from the liberal party. (…quacks like a duck…) If being called a liberal offends you then I apologize. However it was obvious from your post that you did not read the memo I linked to in my blog entry. The point of this blog is for people to make educated comments based on provided information. However your comment made it obvious that you did not read the provided memo. Nor did you reference any other information that would counter what was presented in the linked to memo. So, when taking that into consideration, your comment appeared to be one that was made by an individual who holds to liberal ideology… hence, the label.

Name calling is thinking now huh, how about call your blog echochamber? I understand from your reply that you do not entertain discussion, and that you are captivated by the false dichotomy of Left and Right. For the Right wing party line I can go almost anywhere. Pretty much same for the Left. Between the Right and the Left in this country we have been screwed. I am a fiscal conservative, which means no party represents my interests.

Iraq is a blunder. And a diversion from our terrorist enemies in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Many country's are in violation of U.N. Resolutions, it is simply a cynical pretext to cite Iraq's violation alone. More double talk. No proximate WMD threat existed. Either the Administration is incompetent or dishonest.

Regards to you both.

"Since the war was sold on the basis of a proximate threat, it seesm reasonable at least to question the competance of the decision makers."

False. It is reasonable to question the competence of the intelligence information that was agreed upon by virtually the entire world. And we've done that. But it doesn't change the fact that the intel described a potent and proximate threat.

But it is also true that, while degraded, the chemical weapons found were representative of the type of threat that the intel suggested still existed. Iraq had particularly potent mustard gas, and it being degraded would not have meant that it could not have been used in an attack. Further, the possession of said mustard gas was a defiance of the UN resolutions that Saddam was in violation of, which legitimized and precipitated the war. To say that Saddam had no WMDs is assuredly false.

And today we learn that soldiers being counseled in the unit where the two were captured and beheaded, that two others in their unit had raped and killed civilians. Great, just great.

Sad isn’t it? But nobody here is going to change and support A-Qaeda. They’re getting their boost for the thousands of Middle East news outlets that are running even more vivid accounts. That’s what really hurts us.

But you know, I believe in freedom, and I believe in the good people in America. These acts are horrible and must be addressed. What would it say about us if we did not react? May the day never come that our press is so controlled, or our hearts so cold that we don’t react with relentless outrage. May the newspaper in our nation’s capital never be afraid to print the story they investigated on May 27. And may we always be the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

“The Marines moved to the house next door, Fahmi said.

Inside were 43-year-old Khafif, 41-year-old Aeda Yasin Ahmed, an 8-year-old son, five young daughters and a 1-year-old girl staying with the family, according to death certificates and neighbors.

The Marines shot them at close range and hurled grenades into the kitchen and bathroom, survivors and neighbors said later. Khafif’s pleas could be heard across the neighborhood. Four of the girls died screaming.

Only 13-year-old Safa Younis lived — saved, she said, by her mother’s blood spilling onto her, making her look dead when she fell, limp, in a faint.

Townspeople led a Washington Post reporter this week to the girl they identified as Safa. Wearing a ponytail and tracksuit, the girl said her mother died trying to gather the girls. The girl burst into tears after a few words. The older couple caring for her apologized and asked the reporter to leave.”
